My sister Maureen has an expression of glee and disbelief, "I can't stand it!" for things in life that are just too good, or funny, or cute, or wonderful. Well, the past few weeks with Elijah and Grace have sometimes seemed like one "I can't stand it!" moment after another. Two small examples:
This morning Grace was drinking her milk and was pretty close to finishing it. She put down the cup, looked at it, and smiled and nodded. She then paused, patted the top, laughed, and picked it up again to drink some more.
While I was changing Elijah's diaper this morning, he was getting antsy, so I started to count out loud as a distraction. He can say, "one," and "two," and "three," though not always in the right order, but today, out of nowhere, he took over after sixteen, saying, "... seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty..."
I can't stand it.
They're better in person. Grace, with the two black shoes on (size 8 mens, adult) was well into the "I can't stand it" category.
